The Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) is responsible for oversight and administration of Detroit Medical Center/Wane State University�s GME programs, ensuring compliance with national standards for excellence and facilitating an environment which produces optimal educational outcomes among program graduates.
- In concert with our academic partners, facilitate and oversee the GME mission and strategies of Detroit Medical Center (DMC), remaining responsive to the changing environment.
- Oversee all aspects of DMC�s GME programs including interfacing with academic partners, hospital leadership, clinics, Chairs and Program Directors to assure outstanding outcomes.
- Promotion of excellence in GME programs, ensuring compliance with ACGME and other accreditation agencies common, specialty/subspecialty specific program, and institutional requirements.
- Provide oversight of academic grievances, corrective and disciplinary actions.
- Serve as a resource for residency program directors, hospital leadership and chairs for the latest national standards and best practices in GME.
- Develop all policies, protocols and guidelines needed for the administration and conduct of GME at the institution and program levels.
- Provide mentoring and faculty development for Program Directors.
- Manages and oversee mechanisms to optimize accreditation site visits and accreditation activities.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all accreditation requirements, policies and procedures.
- Represent DMC/Wane State GME interests regionally, nationally and internationally as needed/indicated.
- Chair GMEC committee and oversee a staff to optimally manage GME support functions.
- Serve as a member of DMC�s senior leadership and champion of the clinical quality and patient safety team.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications
- MD/DO or EdD/PhD
- 10 years� experience in a leadership role in a GME program.
- Commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Demonstrated experience working with primary hospital and clinic partners.
- Familiarity and knowledge of ACGME requirements/policies.
- Demonstrated experience leading and supervising a team.
- Demonstrated experience working with faculty, administrators and trainees in an educational environment.
- Program Director or previous experience as DIO strongly preferred.
Associate Professor level candidates must fulfill all the requirements above, along with at least 5 years� experience as an Assistant Professor with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and supervisory experience.
